From INTC development panel today:

<<Intel has made big inroads in the lower-cost market with its Celeron processor and also has plans for products targeted at the handheld device market, through its licensing of the ARM processor for Digital Equipment.

''The microprocessor for the PC is their bread and butter -- but they believe as time goes by there will be a lot more Internet access and e-commerce, where PCs are not necessarily the only product,'' said Wendy Abramowitz of Argus Research.

Greg,

I think the main issue is the user interface. However, I regularly compose notes in my PDA, and would love to use it as a email client. Speed is definitely an issue but as long as we are in the ascii domain it should not be that much of an issue (graphics is different).

I wa thinking what exactly I do with my PC other than developing s/w (which is my job, hence not of consumer interest). It seemed that anythign that I can do with PCs I can do with a PDA (memos, notepads, schedule, email) other than browsing the net. Once that is there, I think personally I will be all set.
