>>The only pad there seems to be in a Zip drive is the "cleaner" pad on which the heads rest when parked. Not to say that this is in itself a bad thing. But it does negate much of what has been claimed by Iomega Investors, particularly in regards to how the Flop! drive read/write heads, while writing or reading to disk, are going to be prevented from crashing onto the disk if the drive is moved.<<

Rocky -

How does this negate "much of what has been claimed by Iomega Investors'? If it negated anything, it would be only my specific claim that Zip has a spacer pad. Who else has ever said there was one?

I can't really see enough on those pictures to tell, but it looks like the entire read/write head is enclosed in a whitish material which could be the low friction pad of which I was told.

It is silly to get so hung up on an inconsequential detail, but I am going to send e-mail to that former Iomega engineer, and I'll let you know what I find out. Of course I will report whatever he says, even if it shows that I have been mistaken. Naturally, if I am mistaken, you are free to conclude that every thing every Iomega investor has ever said is wrong.
