Plenty of US lefties admired "Uncle" Joe Stalin. Mao was and still

Here's my comment to Michael which was pretty minimal (and cynical).

I submit that many people throughout history have been duped into believing their leaders had many, if not all, of the characteristics
that Michael listed but certainly were actually ruthless criminal SOBs.

I threw in the comment about a spouse because (usually) one can know
your spouse well enough to fairly state they have the qualities in Michael's list.
