Jim, wife prefers aol....we all have separate email accts for no extra charge....can't get that thru our esp (1 acct...1 email address)
i also do a little non-financial chat now and then (it's winter time here in Northern Maine, folks) and i have to admit, no one can match aol's chat rooms

Jim, I use an ISP to access AOL as well and am on a "waiting list" to get @Home as soon as it is available in my area.
I do have local access #'s for AOL, so that's not the reason I have an additional ISP. Like many others, I find net surfing much faster and easier on my ISP, yet keep AOL for several features that are unique to them.
Since I spend so much time on the web, I don't mind my current $20 for the ISP plus the additional $10 for AOL. The $40 @Home fee won't faze me either for the faster access.
I think you will be surprised at how many people use both services. What irritates me is the delay in getting the @HOME service to people who would subscribe to it immediately.
