GCOM - - Globecomm Systems Receives Contract From Lucent Technologies for System Upgrades in Saudi Arabia

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y., Feb. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Globecomm Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: GCOM), a leading global supplier of satellite earth stations and networks, has been awarded a contract by Lucent Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: LU) for participation in the upgrading of television, voice and data networks in Saudi Arabia.
Under the terms of the contract, Globecomm Systems will provide TF High-Power Amplifiers (HPAs), Low Noise Amplifiers (LNAs), and Monitor and Control Interface Cabling, as well as documentation, training, installation and support for Lucent's JED-08 amplifier upgrade. The installation is scheduled to be completed in July 1999. Once operational, the upgrades are expected to make the public telephone network in Saudi Arabia more reliable and easier to maintain, and users should enjoy improved service.
