Hit the nail on the head.

Just ignore the problem.......

In ways you like some bigger government and your desire to argue brings you to defend the side which is often very wrong.

I like a pratical and efficient gov't, not a bigger one. I prefer private market solutions over public, but support a role for gov't in education, security, and regulatory roles.

You, were far less than unwilling, to take the side FOR a bigger government more abusive of personal rights. Truth is you do not love freedom. Gold represents that very freedom. The FDIC & the treasury do not like the freedom which gold gives and represents. They wish to know every dollar we save earn or spend. They would be willing to use your friends, "the weekend warriors", toward this end. They will do anything - Yes Anything - to achieve the goal of an all seeing and knowing government.

You have freedom. No one is pressing you to use cash. Use gold if you choose. Ole 49r says she is, so why not you, also? Richard, no one is forcing you to do anything. There is your freedom.

However, some of your freedoms, should you choose them, will exclude you from the priviledges of participating in the system. Most of us like the convenience of the current system (since you don't hear too much B&Ming about it on a fundamental basis). Most certainly don't equate gold with freedom as you do, so don't inflict your opinion upon us.

There is no such thing as freedom in civilization. Ultimate freedom places you outside the constraints of that civilization and organized social organization within communities. All civilizations have had rules and regulations that have impacted on the freedoms of the people living within them.

However, I would agree that there should limitations upon how much our freedoms or privacy are constrained. In this world of technology, it is far to easy to invade the privacy of others, or worse, to hide from past mistakes and make a new start.

Ron
