Re: Slightly OT (DIMD and NT)

"If everyone in New York City went out and bought a [Nortel] 1 Meg Modem tomorrow and hooked it up to their access networks, we'd have a big problem. So we've got to solve that. If we are going to have high-definition TV, digital radio and wireless access to the Internet, all of those bits are going to end up on fiber someplace."

Tim,
The above clip is from your previous link. It's perfect timing but slightly OT in regards to a couple of questions I've been meaning to ask you.

Did you know (I believe this is accurate) that Nortel buys their 1-Meg Modem (xDSL) from Diamond Multimedia (symbol:DIMD) and slaps their name on it. I don't believe many know this and I cannot remember why I do. But anyhow I also believe you maybe interested in DIMD because of their new MP3 player. What do you make of DIMD? Seems like to me, they have a couple of good ideas and the company is selling at a reasonable fundamental level. Do you have any speculation on how well NT may do with their 1-Meg modem, hence DIMD? As you may know from the, "last mile" thread, I have a position in NT but am considering DIMD.

One other question concerning NT now. Didn't you say a few months ago, on this thread, that you thought NT had some very competitive DWDM products that go head to head with what HLIT offers? I believe you mentioned a few DWDM players and I thought you were pretty impressed with NT's DWDM products and technology. Is this accurate?
Thanks,
MikeM(From Florida)
