Larry,

Oh oh....rough times for the bears again.<g>

We had our nice retracement down to the 60 level and now....you know...

...I wonder if the forever bears continue to post as MU starts going back up.

Here are some numbers from the DLJ upgrade:

2/23/99 10:33 am... MICRON TECH. (MU 71-1/8) UP 3, DLJ UPGRADES TO BUY FROM MARKET PERFORM, HAS $100 TARGET... Analyst Charles Boucher tells salesforce recent talks with industry contacts, DRAM vendors has strengthened conviction that DRAM recovery has staying power... Says recent contract price negotiations with major PC OEMs have resulted in flat to slight increases, spot prices have maintained their recent gains... Although DRAM production in Korea increasing, believes it too little, too late... Adds industry bit consumption is growing at about 100%, rapidly absorbing excess capacity, with little capacity coming on line any time soon...

Analyst Charles Boucher tells salesforce MU also executing very well, has shifted essentially all its production to 0.21 micron process, is yielding nearly all of its output to PC100 specification, is shipping primarily 64M SDRAMs, which currently command best prices... Expects MU to return to solid profitability in its 2Q, anticipates steep EPS ramp throughout remainder of CY 99, CY 00 as DRAM supply continues to tighten... Raises $0.45 FY 99 (Aug) EPS estimate to $0.48, $3.70 FY 00 to $3.85./J.Freund

"solid profitability in its 2Q"? That's the quarter that ends on Friday! Given the 19c loss in Q1, Micron needs to make 67c total in the other three quarters to make that 48c, starting now. Either they've been tipped or they want us to think they were?

Nobody's been trading this stuff in size since the first hour or so. I look at the graph and see 5-minute periods consisting of 10 trades and a total of 3000 shares, one right after the other. I stopped looking for big blocks a while ago because there just weren't any.

If yesterday's 68 was the "fair" price yesterday assuming an EPS of 45c, then 48c EPS corresponds to 72 1/2. So that's all the pop DLJ's gonna get out of this. If They want to unload the rest of this crap, somebody'd better phoney up another scam upgrade tonite (without appearing to ask Micron today if that 48c number seems doable) and gap up again tomorrow morning, because that's the only time there was any volume today.
