CALGARY, Feb. 25 /CNW/ - Global Thermoelectric Inc. (TSE: GLE) today announced that it has been awarded contracts to supply more than $1 million CDN in thermoelectric generators for a major natural gas pipeline project, Gasoducto Norandino, in Argentina and Chile. Global's unique generators will be used to provide critical remote power for the pipeline's communication and cathodic protection systems, including sites at elevations up to 4,700 metres. Gasoducto Norandino will deliver natural gas to Chile from fields in northern Argentina. This is the fourth large gas transmission project crossing the Andes mountains for which Global has supplied the remote power equipment. The generators will be shipped in March and April of this year. Jim Perry, President of Global, stated that ''Our equipment's reliability and stability under adverse conditions were a critical feature for the customer. Global's generators are recognized around the world as the best solution for power requirements for instrumentation and cathodic protection for locations far from the electric grid''. Global Thermoelectric Inc. is the world's largest supplier of thermoelectric power generation equipment for use in remote locations, and manufactures heaters for a variety of applications such as for heating crew compartments of military vehicles or transport trucks.
