CBS MarketWatch reports this morning that yesterday Intel reported that they will begin .18 micron production in the second half and complete the conversion by mid 2000. This is about 6 months earlier then the end 2000 schedule previously reported. Slowest speed entry level Celerons by mid 2000 will likely then be running above 500Mhz,making them RDRAM candidates prior to the early 2001 timeframe that Intel has published for its memory roadmap for entry level systems using RDRAM. This could be a major new. driver of next years earnings ramp.
