John: Good joke. Unusual in that this time the engineer isn't the butt. Thanks.

TRADING IN MRVC TODAY

OK, I know; I've fallen on my face in times past trying to predict future price action from time and sales. But I strongly believe something significant is happening, so here goes.

Early this morning, we had one surge in buying and some 19,000 shares traded at 7. 14,000 shares were in blocks of 3000+. There were no trades >7.

Trading fell off dramatically and with it the price. By 12:49 p.m. (EST) we had 1000 shares pass at 6 3/4. Most of the trades before this had been small,i.e. not >2000. (To me this signifies small individual traders.) There were no more trades at all until 1:11 when a block of 10,700 passed at 6 13/16 (the ask).

For the next 2 minutes we had at least 60,000 shares trade, most of them at 7 - but not more than 7 (I think this is signifcant) - and mostly at the ask. Many of these trades were less than 1000 shares, but as you look at the time and tape closely another fact jumps out at you: in most cases you will see a series of small individual trades adding up to 1000 before there is another trade of 1000 or more. For example: 200, 500, 300, then 5000; 100, 900,then 3000; 600, 400, then 5000. Etc. The pattern is striking. My deduction from this is that some large trader is trying to disguise his purchases, trying to make it seem as if there are many buyers, instead of just one (or a group).

Now the volume has again dried up and with it the price: we are at 6 13/16 - 6 7/8.

My hypothesis: we have heavy disguised buying. It is being done in spurts. It is very disciplined: the buying took the stock to 7 - but not beyond - as though it is part of a carefully crafted accumulation plan.

Conclusion: we could see more spurts of crafty, disciplined buying; and higher prices today - and beyond. Do your own DD.
