Thanks for the tip on the Dateline piece. I saw it tonight, it was about 10 minutes regarding the DeBakey VAD and the potential it has to all but replace the need for heart transplants. Not a single mention was made of any competing devices, nor were there any references to the commercial nature of such a device. Nonetheless, it was a very positive piece about a very intriguing technology. Four patients in Germany had the device implanted, one died from an unrelated stroke, the other three all seem to be fine, one has since had a transplant. US trials may begin sometime later this year. Looks to me like we'll be hearing more about the technology. One question which wasn't really touched upon by NBC is how the DeBakey VAD is powered. WHT seems to have a real foothold on its TET energy system which could potentially be used by other companies for similar and/or different applications. Any thoughts on the inherent value of the TET technology on its own?
