I use Schwab and even on the busiest days usually get in. If not you can usually get ahold of a live broker within seconds and they will place the trade for you at their internet price of $29.95 for up to 1000 shares.

OT: I have used DLJ Direct as one of my online Brokers for about 2 Years. I like their Marketspeed software. Their customer service is very nice and courteous. Their rates are high for a discounter. Executions are okay: less than 45 seconds. No price improvement, however. IMO there are a lot of garbage discount brokers. DLJ Direct is NOT one of them.
