Bernie talked about this somewhat in the conference call. (He really was in good form. We should all be so dynamic when we're his age!) Globalstar had it in mind right from the git-go to service remote areas not at either pole. The coverage of a base station is about a thousand miles. So, from a coverage point of view, you don't really need all that many. Political issues therefore become more important than technical issues, and Iridium will have to deal with those, too.

The bottom line is that I am willing to cede Iridium the middle of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and Antarctica, but the Caribbean cruisers will belong to us because of "p.....g."
