Wrong. AMD demo'd one a while ago at 500 MHz--in public.

Check out some of the hardware sites (Tom's, Anand's, etc.) for the reactions.

The link I saw said that INTC demoed a program that that displayed a meter that showed 1000Mhz. I can build one of them for you that will run on an 8088. On a 386 I can build one that runs under windows98.
