I don't interpret it that way.

As far as I can tell, all shareholders would have the same benefit, except for the hostile group.

Don't even really think about this from that point of view. I look at fundamentals (i.e. - do they have gold and what is POG?) and market conditions.

I am just not sure market conditions will continue to support growth in the price. With winter coming in ARP land, there should be some opportunities to acquire it at low values again (i.e. now news in a skittish market is interpreted as bad news). If I was ABX, I would let the Lundins continue to prove up the resource. They can wait a long time, especially when they have the Sutton property to add. I don't see it consistently holding above $ 5 until the fall.

I will look for opportunities in the spring & summer.

Cheers

Typical example there - the hypesters had a chance to supply information that would support their purported position, and chose to supply vacuous rah-rah instead.

The poison pill release reads -

"To implement the Plan, the Board of Directors of the Company authorized the issue, on February 19, 1999, of one Right in respect of each common share of the Company outstanding to holders of record at 5:00 p.m. (Vancouver time) on February 18, 1999. For administrative convenience, the Rights will trade with the common shares and be represented by certificates representing common shares."

So the rights apply to all, no matter when they bought, imho.
This little bump up could easily turn out to be a dead cat bounce, winter is coming in the Andes and time is on Barrick's side here. Good long-term hold, but short-term the long-side money's been made, imho - that's retail buying now .... cheers
