AFTER THE BELL - Brio Tech <BRYO.O> off NEW YORK, Feb. 23 (Reuters) - Brio Technology Inc. edged lower after it announced plans to acquire privately held Sqribe Technologies for about $270 million after the market close on Tuesday. Shares of the Palo Alto, Calif., software company fell about 37 cents to $23.38 on the Instinet electronic trading system. Ahead of the announcement, they closed up $3 at $23.75 on the Nasdaq. A number of Internet and technology bellwethers such as Amazon.com Inc. <AMZN.O>, Microsoft Corp. <MSFT.O> and Lycos Inc. <LCOS.O> were also active. MORE Rtr 17:30 02-23-99
