Bird Brain,
Hypabyssal dykes and sills crystallize/cool/harden at shallow depths under conditions intermediate between plutonic and volcanic....at depths between .5 and perhaps 3 kilometers.....at these shallow depths, the ambient temperature of the country rock will facilitate rapid cooling of a thin dyke or sill.....perhaps try to do some reading before you start chirping and leaving bird droppings all over this thread....

in re your PM - why don't you advance that theory,
and the significance you ascribe to it, on the thread?

Openly. In public. Above board. Like an SIer.

We're all just holding our breath here waiting for
the Last Word On Geology from BCommSkool.

I've often wondered that myself, I think he is reading the book Mitchell wrote on kimberlites and adding to it her own mix of
things from the propaganda off the web.

I'm not sure what kimberlite matrix crystallizing means! That
would not have come from Mitchell.

Too hot or too cool there are problems with the diamonds.

The kimberlite needs to ascend into an area with as low geotherms
as possible but the temperature of the magma ascent remains a constant.

Enjoy it while it lasts and make many $$$CDN Dollars...
