Mike,

You should read Gardy's messages again...yes the video quality is poor now..but he is getting PAID NOW to put video on the web by clients...they are getting revenues NOW for this quality video...won't be this way for long and when the video quality improves and Ampex will have a hand in that, then we've got position...Listen again to the broadcast...news uncut will be released to this site before it is released to other news organizations..I think investors will want to get that kind of an edge....even in today's broadcast, there was the interesting opportunity to pursue futher information on the Argent Capital buy of NetVoucher featured in the video. Argent is publically traded company which sold their businesses and have cash to invest..I found it worthwhile bit of news....

<<Isn't there a danger that the audience is so turned off by the quality of this stuff that by the time the technology catches up an alternative will have captured the need? >>

Now that's always possible, Mike .... but while a steady audio stream coupled with refreshed stills might be more watchable now, they couldn't call that TV. And TV it soon will be. Speed is coming (those phone line ADSLs really sound like the prime ticket to me).

As for the patience of the audience? Jubimer gave a very good professional take on that for one channel, but please allow me to add a more child like, general comment. The reason I think Dave is really on to something in going after enthusiasts ... particular interest groups...is that enthusiasm breeds near endless patience - in kids of all ages. I remember playing my first interactive computer game, ZORK, on a Commodore 64. Incredibly slow. No graphics at all. But, enthralled with the structure and cleverness of the game, I didn't care a bit. Sat there for hours til it was solved. The people who tune in to TVontheWeb will be enthusiasts, and as speeds increase their patience will be rewarded with a much more watchable presentation. In the meantime, I suspect they will stay tuned.

Michael: I too experienced the same situation when I viewed the video, same "herky-jerky" picture that looked like a series of random slides....I am no computer expert but, I have a 28.8 modem hooked to a twisted pair phone line so I naturally selected the 28.8 video icon and got the results above. Just for kicks I went back and selected the 56 kbs. "Voila"....the picture was 10 fold better as far as motion and was in sync with the audio...but focus was lacking. If you are using 28.8 you might try this.....
