I went the BB gun, pellet gun route to where my dad figured I wouldn't shoot him dead. Did go on a hunt when I was 11, I carried the shell in my pocket like Barney Fife, with a 20ga. Popped a bunny, then I didn't understand the guys with all the beagles weren't going to shoot anyway. During my hunting years I caught several rabbits and pheasants. Used to be after a snow I could drive around and see 100s of pheasants. Now the farming practices are different and the game is gone. Lots of deer but I have slowed down. I kinda went for the dog work. I used to carry a Smith and Wesson .22 to shoot rabbits in the head. Honest to God I shot a quail in the head with that gun, ok, a fluke. Illinois is full of trophy deer now.
