The transition is expected to be completed before year's end, Appleton said at the BancBoston Robertson Stephens' technology conference in San Francisco. Is that "year end" 1999/08/31 or 1999/12/31 ? Anyone know? Also: The Boise, Idaho-based DRAM maker has been shifting from six-inch wafer fab production to eight-inch production at several fabs in Japan and Italy. The facilities were part of a major deal with Texas Instruments Inc. last year. Didn't someone here assert that the Japan fab would be used mainly for testing? What is the straight dope on this?
