KIS, I actually think you have a point except that we saw a huge inflationary increase in the late 70s and early 80s in housing when the stock market was fairly stagnant or declining. So housing and other assets seem to follow different growth curves at different points in time - I'm not sure this current runup in housing is directly due to the market (I suspect it, however) but it could also be an affect of the labor crunch which has more to do with demographics. I think the internet mania to housing inflation connection you are making might be too simplistic (or specific to the bay area).
