This proposal basically negates all the good will created in the last two years.

The simplification of Noranda was welcomed by shareholders and analysts on both sides of the border. This proposal entrenches Edperbrascan's control position at no cost to them. The argument that a subdivision of shares will facilitate acquisitions does not stand up to scrutiny. The shares have fallen over $1.00 and the institutions are registering their disappointment. If Noranda is smart they will table this ill conceived idea; however the damage has been done.

valg,

I really have no clue. To be completely honest, I don't understand what having two equal classes of voting shares does other than create confusion.

I still like the outlook here though, big cost cutting announced, and strong EPS even in poor base metals performance. Any uptrend in that area and we'll see big upside here, or perhaps the proposed new share structure will scare others off as it has the past few days. Nice rebound to 15.70 though....
