I presently use MSWIN 6.5 for doing most of my candlestick scans. I have tried to system test the patterns but have found it difficult since I only use EOD data. Normally I wait until 9:30-10:00(central time) for the buys. I will look at the open, high and volume in the first 1-1.5 hours and decide if a true pattern is developing. Since only 1 in 4-5 patterns have confirmation patterns the next morning I'm not sure how to do a good system test. Of course I don't base all my buys on Candlesticks. I always throw in the basics (StochRSI, DAHL, etc., etc.) and always always pay attention to major support and resistant levels and obvious patterns. However I have found that candlesticks are the corner stone of my short-term trades.
