Omnipoint Offers First Wireless Flat-Rate International Calling Plan; Other New Packages Eliminate Long Distance, Roaming Charges

March 2, 1999

CEDAR KNOLLS, N.J., March 1 /PRNewswire/ Premier GSM
wireless provider Omnipoint Communications
today announced a groundbreaking global
calling program -- one of four new pricing
options now available throughout the
company's service area. (See details below.)

All new and existing monthly customers can
call more than 40 countries for a flat rate as
low as 29 cents per minute. OmniRate(SM)
International allows subscribers to call a
variety of countries around the world any
time and any day of the week.

A second new rate plan, OmniRate(SM) North
America, eliminates long distance and
roaming charges in the United States and
Canada on GSM networks. The third new
plan, OmniRate(SM) Network, offers these
same benefits for calls made within
Omnipoint's own network. OmniRate(SM)
Home continues to offer Omnipoint's
everyday low per-minute charges.

All four packages include free caller ID, voice
mail, call waiting, call forwarding, built-in
paging and Internet short e-mail access.
These rates and features are available on all
Omnipoint handsets starting as low as $49.

"Unlike any of our competitors, we offer
customers the option to use their service in
both the United States and Canada with no
roaming charges," said Omnipoint President
George Schmitt. "Our advanced GSM
technology also allows subscribers to roam
seamlessly overseas."

Rate Details

OmniRate(SM) International

For the first time ever, Omnipoint offers
wireless customers the ability to call more
than 40 countries, for a flat rate. Monthly
subscribers may select a single country for
$2.99 per month or all included countries for
$9.99 per month. Then, depending on the
country, each call costs either 29 cents or
59 cents per minute.

Because Omnipoint uses Global System for
Mobile (GSM) communications technology,
subscribers can take their service with them
when they travel overseas. GSM is the
world's most popular digital wireless
standard, used in more than 120 countries by
more than 135 million people.

OmniRate(SM) North America

This new package eliminates long distance
charges for calls made to the United States,
Canada, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin
Islands from anywhere within the U.S. and
Canadian GSM network. It also eliminates
roaming charges for wireless calls made from
more than 2,500 U.S. and Canadian cities.

OmniRate(SM) Network

Omnipoint's own network includes most major
population centers from Maine to Maryland,
plus extensive areas in Southern Florida,
Michigan and Indiana. Principal cities in its
territories include New York, Philadelphia,
Miami, Boston, Detroit, Indianapolis and
Toledo. This new package also eliminates
long distance and roaming charges within
Omnipoint's network.
