BGR

I've probably read 30-50 of your posts the past 3-5 days. What is your point?

You are invested long in indexed funds and want to see if anybody can convince you that is not the best long term strategy? or what?

Just trying to understand where you are coming from.

Mike

>>>>>I am eying some AMAT calls at present<<<<<

BGR, you are talking about a stock that is selling in the $70 range, near the 52-week high, with a P/E in excess of 200, and a profit margin of 7%. ROA is about 2%. ROE is 3.5%. Consensus EPS growth for 1999 is negative, alert NEGATIVE 25%. Go ahead, buy AMAT calls. Why not?

You have just revealed that your tongue is forked. If you are so convinced that (1) the market is efficient, (2) index funds are the greatest thing since sliced bread, and (3) only a fool would try to time the market, then how in the world can you even attempt to justify buying calls on AMAT!!! You would be doing precisely the thing you chide us all for doing here -- attempting to time the market.

Also, why do you waste so much time here if you are an index fund only type of guy? It simply does NOT add up. My guess would be that you are either extremely unsure of yourself or you have a hidden agenda (or maybe too much time on your hands).

I wish you good luck, as I myself have nothing against you, but you are not really making sense if you are being truthful.
