You get what you pay for. Since you pay nothing for Linux, .....

No, Linux is a nice OS for someone who wants to be a systems administrator and doesn't need to run Windows apps (really good for servers). I use it at home on an old junker as an internet gateway/modem server so my three Windows computers can access the internet simultaneously through a single dial up line.

If you have no Unix experience and/or don't understand how OSes work, or need Windows applications, well, it's not so hot.
