Hi Folks! The Marum field crew has been strategically attacking the ongoing drill program. Now that thorough target access and preparations are made (see the MMU website), drilling can be executed in a continual and cost effective process.

The following is taken from here:

Drill Program Status

Posted February 10, 1999 - Commencement of field operations, including road scouting, accommodation, road building, ground magnetic grids, water and fuel truck arrangements, etc began February 3rd with an advance access scouting crew.

Posted February 12, 1999 - Final approval of drill permits is issued by regional forestry representative.

Posted February 13, 1999 - Heavy snow conditions from earlier snowfalls are preventing the effective use of snowmobiles causing delays in laying down ground magnetic grids. Two targets, 7 and 9 are prepped for drilling, Targets 7a, 8, 10 and 13 do not yet have magnetic grids, nor do any of the secondary targets. At least four grids are required before it becomes effective to begin drilling operations. There is also a problem with Target 10 access. We have to cross a swamp and the thick snow cover means that the ice may not be thick enough to support the drill unit . There are two solutions: Clear a road and wait for it to freeze more, or go around the swamp. This is a decision for the field crew. Snow conditions now require the use of plowed roads for virtually all access.

Posted February 15, 1999 - It seems like everyone in northern Alberta is having a tough time with the heavy snow and ours is not the only program delayed, according to our forestry department friends. The driller is staged at a location about 100 km from the drilling area and is ready to move in as soon as the road building is advanced enough. One of our snowplow rigs broke through some swamp ice yesterday. It has been pulled out but everyone has been directed to exercise extreme caution and to go as slow as safety requires.

Posted February 16, 1999 - Three targets now have completed ground magnetic grids and two targets have complete road access. These roads will be left to harden for a couple of days. Another group of anomalies will be accessed from a different direction where 15 km of main access road is being cleared.

Posted February 21, 1999 - All of the primary targets have been visited and drill access roads are in place. The roads are being left to harden for a day or two. In the meantime ground magnetic grids are being surveyed over the aeromagnetic anomalies and final drill program preparation work is underway.

Posted February 23, 1999 - All of the ground magnetic grids have been surveyed on the priority targets. Access road work is complete on priority targets. Drill pad clearing is underway with some pads already complete. The driller has mobilized into the area and the drill is expected to arrive on the property within 48 hours.
