REL:

We will have to see if shareholders are keen on giving away their shares to the tune of the 66 2/3 % that Dominion is after. The breakup fee is a scandalous amount at $12mm dollars. I wonder if management is getting a golden parachute in exchange for coming up with such a deal. Makes one wonder if past financial, operating and reserve reports were accurate!

This "deal" will also throw another cold shower on investors thinking of investing in junior or intermediate oil and gas companies. If we can't rely on financials and reserve figures, then this industry may suffer a Bre-X syndrome. This must be of serious concern to regulators.

Yup. Is Dominion private? Even the choice of share deal with a public company (versus cash) would have been better. At least then there would be the potential for some upside or recovery.

Oh well, what is, is. I still think the aftermath will be interesting - to see if anything happens, re another bid (doesn't seem likely) or action from unhappy shareholders.
