Why? Stealth! I really believe a company must keep certain things quiet. While we all did everything possible to get information about the trials, XOMA's best interest was served by keeping everything about the trials as off the map as possible.

Suppose family members were well informed about BPI, Newprex and the trials. Might they not be, well, in AWE? Might they not storm the hospitals, take hostages, burn public buildings, and demand access to this supposedly awesome treatment? This would have disrupted the trials and set back proving or disproving that BPI actually worked.

I post this while understanding that perhaps another explanation exist. We hear nothing because there is nothing exciting to hear. I do not believe this but it is possible.
