AAPL's Web Objects handles 400,000 hits/day at Consumers Digest

Web Objects "scalability" the factor , running in UNIX on HP servers:

" Online Traffic Driving to Consumers Digest Consumers Digest

Online is a true value-added clearinghouse for product information to online consumers attractingmore than 400,000 hits per day. Since its launch in November 1998, the site registers thousands of new users each day.

''One of our main criteria in choosing hardware and software was the scalability of the site,'' said Chuck Mitchell, vice president and general manager for Consumers Digest. ''We knew we would need the ability to scale the site regularly to accommodate an increasing number of users, and Tensor was able to create and implement the right technology.''

Aware of the growth potential of Consumers Digest Online's audience, Tensor identified a scalable web application server and database design that could match an increasing number of consumer specifications with a similarly increasing number of product listings and Best Buy recommendations.

In order to implement the necessary system specifications, Tensor incorporated Apple Computer's (Nasdaq:AAPL - news) WebObjects application server software into the Consumers Digest Online system, enabling the site designers to add more Hewlett-Packard Co.'s (NYSE:HWP - news) UNIX servers as needed, or to upgrade existing servers.
