<can i unplug my PII 450 mhz & replace with a PIII chip?>

Patsy, yes you can, but it most likely requires a BIOS upgrade. If you got your computer from a vendor, check with the vendor to see what you need to do. Or just find out the brand of motherboard you have, go to the website of the motherboard maker, and look for the right BIOS upgrade for your computer.

(If you know your motherboard maker but don't know the web site to go to, check out anandtech.com and scroll down 2/3's of the way.)

That depends on your motherboard and BIOS. You'll probably have to upgrade the BIOS and your motherboard has to support the lower core voltage. The ASUS P2B is one that was specifically mentioned in a news article as usable with the P-III.

The P2B is a nice board. I've been running an overclocked Celeron 300A (bus set to 100 MHz) in it for about six months now with no problems.
