Perhaps we're not communicating. What you do above is what I call reserving shares. I have a GTC order for CYOE up above waiting.

Now be careful, some bonehead at electronic trading rejected my order when I tried to change an approved limit order to the current price. I was on the phone for 20 minutes straightening it out. The know nothing clerk was trying to tell me that they had to recheck availability. I said, so you'd have shares to lend me if the order crossed as entered, but since I tried to change the limit, you don't? What hogwash.
