In case you missed it...there was an article in IBD today entitled...Dell Unleashes Own R&D To Tackle Network Market. Obviously a follow through punch on the heels of yesterdays announcement. It was actually a very good endorsement for the future of the SANs. Dell predicted it to grow to $15 billion by 2002 while International Data Corp. posted a more modest figure of just under $12 billion. The paragraph of interested said..."On Tuesday, Dell unveiled several new hardware products to build a SAN. They include network switches that use Fibre Channel technology to direct data between servers and a storage computer." The article stayed generic and did not mention Brocade. I think this is the first major endorsement of the use of a FC switch associated with a major player involved with SANs. Just playing the odds, it would seem reasonable, that even a small piece of this market will be worth a lot of dollars in the years to come.
