The Greenpeace gang:

The Five Year Freeze
campaign - whose members include Friends of the
Earth, Greenpeace and ActionAid
- said that the LGA
decision would give people the right to choose a GM free
diet.

<Like I said before, what this amounts to is media-driven, economic and trade
terrorism. The UK apparently doesn't fully understand how they have been
manipulated in this way, since half of them are still struggling to understand the fact
that tomatoes have genes in them at all. And the Royal Society only comments on the
science part of this issue...>

Greenpeace et al has been very clever in making use of the GM potato in this scare campaign. The potato is the most important food staple of the Brits, closest to their hearts...their comfort food (fish and chips, bangers and mash). They don't have to understand it.
