most helpful and thoughtful of you to take the time to outline the settings for your email in win95. i checked 'em with mine, identical right down the line... still won't work. it's a drag, the more i think about it. especially the part about emailing netscape support and having them suggest that i install the very browser version that i already have. i guess i'll try their bulletin boards, though i've had little success with them in the past.

i'll keep plugging away, and when i get it dialed in, i'll let ya know what it was.
