Reminds me of another story from the 70s.

A couple of institutional salesmen were wining and dining a portfolio manager. At dinner, they decided to bet the manager $500 that the lowly Stars would be ahead of the mighty Flyers by the time they got to the game. Needless to say, they were appalled when they got to the rink and the Stars were ahead!<g> So, they went double or nothing on the final score. Once again, they were confounded and the Stars won. Facing the prospect of having the manager pay them a grand, they decided to go double or nothing on whether the guy could make it back to the car.

He made it . . . with a salesman under each shoulder.
