As I stated before, I want Corel to succeed more than anyone. The Ottawa software market would be hurt by losing a player the 'calibre' of Corel. Which is why it is important that they clean up their act. The dumping of the NC to HCC and their jBridge technology to GraphOn was very good moves. Unfortunately they didn't get any cash for it. But they at least dumped dead-end products for the company. Corel is a software shop, not a hardware. I am not a MSFT worshipper, I have just invested money in them. Is that the only way you can invest in a company, to become a zealot?

Corel will eventually be bought out by some company. Why? The only way to return to profitability is to concentrate on the core products (Draw, WordPerfect). Which means they can't invest into new market arenas (which they proved recently, that they can't execute in R&D).
Which means the company will not grow significantly, since Draw and WordPerfect are in mature markets, with limited growth other than upgrade sales. As a result the share price will dwindle. There is no 'eBay' style hype to augment the share price. As long as the two main products make money, they'll be perceived as cash cows, easily digested by some company looking to expand their product base (which is what all software shops must do to grow).

By the way, I never said I hate the civil service, just that I don't work for them. I don't suck my cappuccino, I drink it. If you think I 'stick it' to Corel, you should how much Bill Gates 'sticks it' to his employees (as far as comments upon errors). He doesn't suffer fools greatly, which means you wouldn't even be let in the back door.

Ciao!
