As for the life style with a house and two cars, that is absolutely out of the question for the majority Chinese lived in the cities. There is simply no enough space for that. You have no idea about the pop. density in China's big cities, especially in Shanghai.

Basically true, but it should be recalled that the same constraints apply in Hong Kong, and they were spending rather well for a while. Anyone who thinks the Chinese will never bring consumption to the American standard should try dating a girl from HK. Brand conscious is a major understatement. It is also interesting to note that the HK Chinese made the transition from traditional frugality to conspicuous consumption rather quickly.
