I had dinner this evening with a group of college profs. The conversation turned to the PIII. The consensus of the group is that if you buy PIII you get the "Mark of the Beast"

Elmer,

As AMD has closed the gap, Intel has been pressed harder and harder to find ways to squeeze them. AMD now has the highest performance Winstone CPU, and Intel will have to be exceptionally clever to keep the squeeze on.

Too bad for Intel that the feds have the squeeze on them.
