Another micro-cap pick is:
- Home Capital Group Inc. (HCGb/TSE) $3.75 ($4.45-$2). The Toronto-based holding company, through its principal subsidiary, Home Savings & Loan Corp., provides deposit and mortgage lending services to market niches not served by the larger financial institutions. These include the self-employed and small business owners.

It earned 46¢ a share in 1998 and Sprott Securities is forecasting earnings of 51¢ in 1999. The 18-month target on the stock is $8.55.

"To its credit, the company has always reported earnings above our expectations," says Mr. Sprott.
