The only time there is a point to put EOM is when the message is only one line long, so that people with slow access to the web can just read the header and not bother checking to see if there is more message to read.

JWC and All,

The EOM at the End Of Message is for those that are reading the list of posts. If you have a short message, it lets everyone know that the message ends right there, if it is a long message, there is no purpose the EOM. For example, if you click on the link that shows the last 100 posts for TSIG, all the ones that say EOM lets everyone know that there is nothing else to that post and they don't have to click on it to find that out. Same with the message with OT.. off topic, people know they can pass that post without missing any important news on tsig.

This really comes in handy with alot of threads, and this one has been quite busy...so if you have a Off Topic Post, just start it with OT and if you have a short one sentence message ...just end it with EOM. Then people can skip through half the posts and not miss anything important.

Anyway...that's what it means, and that's the purpose. Hope it helps you all understand a little better.

Sammie ...doing a little too much posting tonight :-)
