Yousef,

the K6-3 prices will head down soon

I wouldn't be so sure about that. SIMD + no CPUID may command a hefty premium.

Yousef,
"I'm sure that was just a "Freudian" slip, Jim ... But I'm sure you
are right
that the K6-3 prices will head down soon."

No, it wasn't a slip. I think AMDs K6-III prices will settle down.
As in lower than 375 for the 450 and 305 for the 400. When they do you'll know supply has picked up.
Unfortunately for Intel, they will have to drop prices on the Pentium II and then they will have 2 (Celeron and Pentium II), not one chip,
to cannibalize the flagship (Pentium III), which may end up plagued by the CPUID. Like I said and Paul incorrectly interpreted, "Intel is setting its own trap"...

Yousef,
Maybe I spoke too soon.
Current price on the K6-III-450 is now $475. Maybe the vendor had too many orders at $375? <G>

More interesting is the K6-2-400 which has recently RISEN in price to $149 compared to the Celeron 400 at $145. Why do you figure that is?
Are people less afraid to buy a K6-2 now that the upgrade path to the K6-III is now in place?
