I have had alot of people comment that the average person (i.e. those that want the one rate plan and just a phone to use everywhere) want a SIMPLE PHONE to use all the time. The few that I talked with had Nokia phones and they told me that they had a book 50 pages long to explain all the "features".

While we were playing golf, my partner got a voice mail page and it just so happened I got one too. the guy had no clue how to get it easily on his Nokia with Pactel service and said he would have to go thru a major routine. I showed him how to get voice mail from Airtouch on my QCP-820 phone. Once he saw me do it, he understood it. He said he had to wait for awhile to get his on his nokia until he got back to somewhere he could look it up.

He also said there was a calculator and other stuff, but he never figured it out. All he wanted was a phone to make calls when he wanted to make calls. Period... A phone which says "call Joe now" and he can call Joe now...

I think there is a significant group here that just wants a LOW END PHONE for very cheap that works well and has VERY simple features.

Valueman, don't know if release date of the Q thin phone is all that crucial given the magnitude of other haps on the chess board, but I will add this. My son is anxious to buy--with my Visa card--the world's greatest living, most technologically advanced cell phone *and the cost be damned* as he puts it. So I naturally layed the thin phone on him. Not trusting his beloved father's technical wisdom [now how do you figure that?], but anxious to throw a bone given financial backing, he immediately called the Mighty Q in the motherland and said: 'When can I give you dad's credit card and how soon will I have it in my hot little hands?' Q-lady told him: "not till 3rd Q of the year at the earliest". Good news is he's chomping at the bit after visiting Q web site and taking it for a test drive; bad news is like all gen-X'ers he wants it yesterday.
I sure hope you're right and the Q can start pumping these things out in volume, cause even Ramsey thinks they'll sell [he being the only person on the planet cheaper than me]. Is there such a thing as an "offical source" of release date? SM
