Seems like ATI's stock has had quite a few down days the last week or so. You are probably right about S3 cutting into ATI's business since they seem to be in all the major OEMs. Investors in the know are probably moving out or cutting back after ATI's latest move up in the belief that they have lost some market share and are due to move lower when S3's OEM wins are made public. I have seen a few news bits touting the new ATI chip as the greatest, but have also seen a few comments from people or developers who have seen it and don't think that it is that great. ATI just seems to be able to please the OEMs with consistent quality, price, and service, without having that hot a chip.

stockroach, maybe you or some one can explain this to me. OEM since I first heard them term 20 years ago has always struck me as oxy-moronic in the sense that an Original Equipment Manufacturer is using products that they did NOT manufacture. ?? However, I got used to the term and understand what it supposed to mean.

Now we have these press releases referring to major OEM pc manufacturer. I look at that list (the top 5) and see the likes of IBM, NEC, Compaq, etc., which is what I picture as major pc manufacturers. But, it seems that they are actually talking about pc part(s) manufacturers. Those aforementioned companies would be great wins.
