Help Requested -INTEL PIII Serial Number Controversy

Hi AMD people.

Yesterday I was surfing the net and found mention of some weakness or hack involving the INTEL PIII serial number reporting function. Since I am a PowerPC person, I only took note in passing but did mention it to my boss, who is very interested. Now I can not find the reference.

Is this something AMD fans know about? Can anyone here direct me to a source? Are there any boards or discussion groups relating to a "boycot-the-PIII" point of view that might know of this? Thanks.

Hal
