By the numbers: Starting this thread has been an fascinating experience. When I made post #0 on 2/15 (was it only 10 days ago?), I was worried no one would notice or respond, so I solicited some correspondents from other threads, like freeus and LindyBill, to post. Within a few days, it jumped to the top of the HOT list, and along the way we attracted some SI celebrities, like Michael Burke and Mr.Fun, who livened up the thread with their keen insights and strong opinions. MF Buck dropped in, and has stayed, helping us better understand the approach outlined in the GG. Beginning with a core of senior G&K investors, we have also acquired a number of younger investors, who have brought us new perspectives on the Inutz stocks. And, most amazingly, we have never had a naked flame appear in our midst; a sharp contrast to the unfortunate state of affairs in most SI threads.

Internet Years are far shorter than Dog Years. The numbers say we peaked on Saturday, 2/20, with 88 posts. Yesterday, there were "only" 30, and we no longer appear on the HOT list. The question is, where do we go from here? Does this thread disappear, as most do in the first 30 days, or does it remain a place for reasoned debate about unique investments that fall into the G&K category?

There have been suggestions that the thread change/improve to place more emphasis on up and coming companies and sectors. Or that it focus more on the traditional GG approach, tracking emerging market baskets. I do not have a strong opinion (unusual, huh?). I would just like the thread to remain an island of civility, interesting discussion, debate, and good will. Number of posts isn't one of my metrics.

I don't see investing as a win/lose proposition, and am more than willing to learn from those of differing perspective. My goal, as I wrote in a post to the dell thread, is to seek the kernal of knowledge in every intelligent poster's position, and use it to grow my personal wealth.

I've just received an very fine job offer, and am debating if I should remain an Individual Online Investor (I'm proud of that title) or take a day job. Taking the day job would not restrict my G&K investing, but would prohibit my options trading (which might not be a bad thing <g>). It would also reduce the amount of time I can devote to this thread and my attempts to nurture it. If I take that job, I hope I can count on my threadmates to maintain this unique and friendly environment.
