With two of the Four Horseman [+ EMC] now openly supporting switched FC SAN's this market segment is going to be increasingly difficult to ignore. zdnet.com 1) MSFT says Dell first but others soon to follow for the NT market. 2) Dell plans to enhance scalability, via a hardware upgrade later this year, to expand the number of cascading switches from the current two. 3) IDC: "What's important is that it's a fibre-channel switching architecture for NT, delivered by Dell with their direct sales model, and I expect it to be very price-competitive and put the fear of God in a lot of PC server suppliers,'' McArthur said.
