Thanks for the response. It is hard for me to imagine that Merced will be a failure, but your point is well taken.

I'm really frustrated at my ability to understand the dynamics of PTEC. IMHO, I think ROMPilot should be a big success. I know the market is competitive, but $.25 to $.50 a copy sounds pretty cheap considering support costs. I wonder what NEC pays for ROMPilot, how their contract is structured and who are the other customers? PTEC has had some pretty stupid contracts in the past where the core BIOS sold for a one time fee without license fees. I believe those days are over, but I wonder what the lasting effect is?

Your response raised additional questions: Will PTEC be successful in their add-on products? Will PTEC be able to grow it's BIOS business now that it has 70% of the market? I believe the answer to both questions is yes. Does anyone else have any thoughts on these issues?
