The first summer I was here, it hit 121. My car vapor-locked. I very nearly did the same when I pushed it off the road.

In some ways it is like dealing with the snow. You keep your car in the garage so it won't be so hot. You go from air conditioned house to air conditioned car to air conditioned work/stores.

It is only really bad for about 2 months. You get to the point where you say "anything below 110 is easy to take."

If you need to get out of doors in the summer, take a 2-4 hour drive to the mountains and drop 20 degrees off the temp. Go camping and hiking in the tall pines.
